what is a life group?

Life groups are the core way that each of us becomes a part of meaningful, intentional, community at MBC. Throughout the week, groups gather to grow in their relationships with God and one another.  We have several groups, around a variety of topics!   • Led by caring members of the church
  • Meet new friends or deepen existing relationships
  • Grow in your relationship with God
  • Learn how the Bible applies to your life

MOnday

  • 12pm (Women) Lunch Bunch, bring your lunch and your bible. "Amos- An Invitation to the Good Life" by Jennifer Rothschild, meet in the MBC conference room led by Kathleen Thulin. Starting up again on January 29th.
  •  7pm (Young Adults)  A growing group of post high school and twenty-somethings, married or single. Led by Lee and Dena Smith. Meet in the Smith's home. Contact Lee for location at Pastorlee@manahawkinbaptistchurch.org
  • 7pm (Mixed Adults) This group is continuing, and halfway through the book study. "Christian growth is simply accepting what we have always had from the beginning, from the first day we gave our lives to Christ!” Michael Wells Sidetracked in the Wilderness, led by the Racioppis. This group meets at the Racioppi’s home.

Tuesday

  • 7pm (Mixed Adults) I Am study. Led by Nate Kirby. Begins February 6th. For the 8-week Spring season we will be studying the "I Am" statements of Jesus. Each member will receive a LifeGuide Bible Study book that will guide our discussion and time together in the Word." This group meets at the Reese’s home.
  • 6:45-8pm (Men) study led by Ken Kirby, begins Feb 6th. “The Church, the Body of Christ” an 8-week verse by verse study of Ephesians. This group meets in the MBC office.
  • 6:45pm (Women) study led by Sue Kirby, begins February 6th“Keep the Joy”, an 8-week verse by verse study of Paul’s letter to the Philippians. This group meets in the MBC conference room.
  • 7pm (Mixed Adults) study led by Al Erickson, The Last Words of Christ, Begins February 6th. We will discuss Jesus’s last words with his disciples prior to his crucifixion found in the book of John. These passages are rich in theology, instruction and encouragement. We will not use a book or study but will be pulling from a number of sources with emphasis on Chapters 16 and Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer found in Chapter 17. This group meets at the Thulin’s home.

wednesday

  • 1pm (Mixed Adults) study led by Angelo DeFranza, “Angels”Begins Jan 24th. A study on Angels. Unfortunately, there is an abundance of misinformation on the topic of angels. Angel lore, myths, ancient stories, even the experiences of people who have encountered angels must be measured against the standard of God's truth. This study will help us discover what the Bible says about these marvelous beings. This group meets at the Grasso’s home.
  • 6:30pm (6-12th grade) Youth Group. Meet at MBC. 

thursday

  • 9:30am (Women) The book of Revelation, led by Ruth Ann Schmidt. Meet in conference room at church. 
  • 1:30pm (Women) Revelation, led by Ruth Ann Schmidt. Meet over ZOOM.
  • 7pm (Mixed Adults) led by Angelo DeFranza on 1 Corinthians, Begins Jan 25th. Paul’s letter to the church in Corinth deals with sectarianism, disunity, sexual immorality, and that is only the first six chapters. The apostle Paul patiently teaches about worship, unity, the role of women, and the Lord's supper. He is disturbed but not despondent, angry but not desperate. His driving passion is love, and his treatise on love in chapter 13 remains the greatest essay ever penned. " This group meets at the DeFranza’s home.

Friday

  • 6:30pm (Mixed Adults) Grief Share, Begins March 8th. Led by Ruth Ann Schmidt. Meet in MBC conference room. Help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member or friend. This is a 13 week program from March 8- May 31.
